(ED. NOTE: We don’t write these ourselves! We aren’t insane! This is part of a recurring series in which we compile actual posts from NDNation’s flagship forum, Rock’s House, into a semi-coherent narrative. Original post and explanation is here. We do this every week. Thank you for not yelling at us on Twitter anymore.)
“It will be interesting to read this board the rest of the night. Why? When we play well, the conversation is good.”
Just a reminder for those thinking we could go 12-0……Pump the brakes. Stanford is bottom 3rd and 4th quartile on many relevant Offensive statistics. Same thing on defense. I still fully expect us to drop a deuce on at least one game this year. What if we already dropped our deuces? ND dropped a deuce on Stanford’s head…And #2 played a big role in that too.
Book is a short Brady Quinn. Coney never even offered them syrup or jelly. And Williams has sweet hair.
I had forgotten that college football can be fun to watch. “Manhandle The Cardinal” would be a good name for a fantasy team, a racehorse, or a porn movie.
Kelly was focused. Shaw has flipped him the bird before …….and Kelly wanted to flip back. Thus Kelly could transcend his usual meat-headedness. They took a whole bucket of spiders and pubes and Lenny Kravitz songs and dumped it on Shaw’s head. That’s why he was so pissed after the game. He had a welt on his neck and “American Woman” stuck in his head.
I’m 34 years old. And I think this is the first time since I was around 13 that I’ve had fun watching a Notre Dame game. Games like ’18 Stanford or ’12 Oklahoma are gifts which I enjoy knowing full well that Purple Face will screw it up going forward. It’s just a matter of time.
These days, I’m calm and serene. If the game is going badly, I just turn it off and go do something else. I assign priorities differently. I had not watched a play this year until the WF game. I fully expect to go back to general indifference this Saturday, however. And I am not under any illusions regarding what will happen for the rest of the season. BK will find a way to blow this, for sure.
Coaches are judged on seasons, not games. Last night’s win has again emboldened Kelly’s supporters. He has few “supporters”. I almost convinced myself to believe we are still living in the times we used to enjoy. Va Tech has a giant chicken roaming the sidelines. It will be total chaos. Kelly already sounds like he is psyching himself out.
on Saturday night, when my wife suggested going to mass at a time that would cause us to miss the first quarter of the game, I did not object at all. That was in large part because I expected a loss. I lost interest a few years back. After a few years I started watching again but drinking more if that was possible. Last night barely moved me. Nice win, but that’s it.
In closing, the Stanford win was nice. But there will never be anything like the mornings after USC in ’65, Alabama in ’73, Michigan in ’80, Miami in ’88, or FSU in ’93. It’s just not the same anymore.
